Here begins the comedy,

after the White House said that the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike is an "unwelcome step."

Peter Navarro attacks the Federal Reserve for raising interest rates – "You never raise interest rates in the middle of an energy price storm."

President Trump's senior advisor for trade and manufacturing argues that the Federal Reserve should not raise interest rates while energy prices are soaring.

"An energy storm is already contracting, raising rates into it is a double blow."

"This was a stupid, stupid decision by someone who is supposed to be a smart guy, and to start his term this way is stupid."

"This will hurt us," the advisor adds.

Trump attacked the Federal Reserve after the committee supported an interest rate hike,

The president criticized the Federal Reserve after the committee unanimously decided to raise interest rates by 25 basis points, to a range of 3.75%–4.00%, and demanded that interest rates be lowered to 1% or less.

Trump said he still trusts Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh, but called the committee "very hostile" and "very political."
