Want early exposure to Anthropic?

This is how you can get exposure through ETFs

The race to invest in private artificial intelligence companies is expanding, and attention is now shifting to Anthropic, developer of Claude models, and currently considered the leading company in the world of models and code.

Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg's ETF analyst, presented a review of investment funds that hold exposure to Anthropic, even before the company is traded on the stock market.

How does it work?

Since Anthropic is a private company, its shares cannot be purchased directly on the stock market like shares of Nvidia or Microsoft.

However, some investment funds gain economic exposure to the company through special purpose vehicles, known as SPVs, or through financial swap agreements, known as Swaps.

In such cases, the fund does not necessarily directly hold Anthropic shares registered in its name, so it is important to examine the investment structure and the economic rights it grants.

According to the review, the volume of investments in funds offering exposure to the company has grown, and the trend resembles the enthusiasm previously seen around exposure to $SPCX through public funds.

The main difference is that today there are more funds that allow stock market investors to gain indirect exposure to sought-after private companies, and this trend is becoming more common.

ETFs reported to hold exposure to Anthropic ⬇️

- $BAI - iShares AI Innovation and Technology ETF: 185,076 shares, exposure of approximately 1.36% of the fund.

- $CNEQ - Alger Concentrated Growth Fund: 65,623 shares, exposure of approximately 5.28% of the fund.

- $LAZR - Global X Photonic Graphene ETF: 14,746 shares, exposure of approximately 10.47% of the fund.

- $MN - KOGE Mangoes ETF: 2,338 shares, exposure through a financial swap agreement.

The ability to gain exposure to private companies through the public stock market is expanding, but before investing, it is important to check not only whether the fund reports holding Anthropic, but also how the exposure is structured, its value, its weight in the portfolio, and the associated costs and risks.

Good intel travels.
