The United States government makes a dramatic decision

Commerce Secretary Lotnick signed an order blocking the full use of Anthropic's new model, Claude Mythos

The order cleverly targets "non-US citizens only"

And in fact, it forces Anthropic to remove the model from their platform as they have no way to verify the identity of every user in real time.

Anthropic calls this a "temporary disruption," but the truth is that what is really behind the scenes of this order is not entirely clear.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the reason for this order is a conversation Amazon CEO Andy Jassy had with senior US government officials.

According to Jassy's claims, Amazon researchers managed to make this model reveal information that could be used for cyber attacks.

The Americans investigated the matter and decided to limit its use.

This is perhaps a first example of how a tech giant like Amazon influences American policy.

The big question is:

How will blocking the model that crashed software companies affect software companies?

An interesting week ahead.
