The race for memory is becoming global?

The UAE strengthens ties with chip giant SK Hynix

The UAE's Deputy Minister of Investment, Mohammed Al Khuwai, is expected to arrive tomorrow for an official visit at SK Hynix's headquarters.

This visit is much more than just a courtesy tour because he is joined by the most senior representatives of the largest wealth and investment funds in the region.

Such as Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and AI companies MGX and G42.

This move is considered a direct continuation of the economic cooperation that began last year, when the countries agreed on massive investments in the AI sector totaling over $20 billion.

The current visit aims to advance practical discussions on establishing data centers, developing artificial intelligence infrastructure, and securing the global chip supply chain.

The UAE is undergoing a dramatic strategic shift after choosing to leave the OPEC oil cartel, among other reasons, to invest all its resources in advanced technology.

It views SK Hynix as a critical partner, especially due to the company's immense advantage in producing high-bandwidth memory, which is the most important component today for chips from giants like Nvidia.

The big question

Will the UAE visit to the chip giant's production facilities soon lead to announcements of new strategic investments or deeper technological collaborations?

Because it is clear to everyone that the UAE wants to secure a position of power in the global supply chain of the AI era.

We are monitoring and will continue to update.
