Tech giants are not stopping, and it seems that 2026 is emerging as a turning point year, among other things, for the smart glasses market.

After a long period of quiet on the Google Glass front, new data indicates that the next generation of the product is just around the corner, and this time it comes with strong backing and strategic partnerships designed to transform it from a niche product into an everyday essential.

Note: This time Google is not walking alone.

Recent reports reveal traces of initial code connecting Google's applications to the operating system of the new glasses.

This is an intriguing four-way collaboration:

Google: Responsible for the 'brain' – the Android XR operating system and Gemini's artificial intelligence capabilities.

Samsung: Leads the hardware and manufacturing side, integrating the glasses into the Galaxy device ecosystem.

Warby Parker and Gentle Monster: Here lies the real change. The collaboration with these fashion brands is intended to solve the 'design problem' of earlier models and turn the glasses into a fashionable, light, and comfortable accessory that looks completely like regular eyeglasses.

The date to mark on your calendar: Market estimates, which receive broad support from analysts and leakers, point to the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for February 25 as the main stage for revealing the new details.

This event, where Samsung's flagship devices are usually presented, is expected to serve as the official launch point for the product into the global market.

The timing of this move is not coincidental.

While Meta is increasing the production rates of its smart glasses and tightening its grip on the sector, Google's renewed entry, along with its partners, is expected to shake up the market once again.

From a business perspective, this is an attempt to create a new standard where technology becomes 'transparent' – one that is on our faces all day long, providing real-time information (such as live translation or navigation), but without looking like a cumbersome technological device.

If Google and its partners succeed in presenting a product that combines luxurious design with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, we may change the way we consume information and interact with the environment.
