The Capitol trader?
Nancy Pelosi with additional purchases on Wall Street
And we are here, of course, to update you on everything!
The purchases reveal a series of significant changes in Pelosi's investment portfolio, including the exercise of options, the sale of large-cap stocks, and the transfer of assets for philanthropic purposes.
Here are the details of the main moves:
In the Big Tech sector, Pelosi made similar "exercise and exchange" moves; she converted existing options into actual shares, and simultaneously purchased new options expiring only in 2027.
Call options are contracts that grant the right to buy a stock at a predetermined price.
When she buys options for 2027, she is essentially betting that the stock price will rise significantly in the next two years.
1. Google ($GOOGL): Pelosi exercised 50 options and added 5,000 shares to her portfolio at $150 per share.
Additionally, she purchased 20 new options at the same price, expiring in January 2027.
Alongside this, she transferred 7,704 shares to a "Donor Advised Fund" (a tool that allows for flexible and tax-efficient management of charitable donations).
2. Amazon ($AMZN): Here too, 50 options were exercised for 5,000 shares at $150.
However, she chose to sell 20,000 existing shares and opened a new position of 20 long-term options (January 2027) with a strike price of $150.
3. Apple ($AAPL): A notable move to reduce exposure with the sale of 45,000 shares.
Concurrently, 28,200 shares were transferred to her charitable fund.
Here too, 20 new options for 2027 were purchased with a strike price of $100.
4. Nvidia ($NVDA): Pelosi utilized "cheap" options at $80 to acquire 5,000 shares, but sold 20,000 shares from her holdings.
She continues to believe in the company for the long term with the purchase of 20 options at a strike price of $100 for 2027.
Beyond the tech giants, several specific moves were made across various sectors:
AllianceBernstein ($AB): A significant purchase of 25,000 shares in the global investment management firm.
Disney ($DIS) and PayPal ($PYPL): Pelosi chose to reduce her presence and sold 10,000 shares of Disney and 5,000 shares of PayPal.
Vistra ($VST) and Tempus AI ($TEM): In both these companies, 50 call options were exercised, adding 5,000 shares to the portfolio for each (at strike prices of $50 and $20 respectively).
Versant Media ($VSNT): As a result of a spin-off (company separation) from Comcast, 776 shares of Versant were received in the portfolio along with a cash component.
