Activating Tesla Cortex 2 – which is, simply put, the robot's "brain factory".
What is Tesla Cortex 2?
This is a dedicated AI supercomputer – the super-brain that will learn and power the Optimus robot.
Tesla is currently in the phase of installing physical hardware (transformers and electrical infrastructure), marking the final touches before entering the operational phase.
Its purpose?
To finalize the robot's behavior, operation, and planning model – this is the core of the intelligence and learning infrastructure.
Electrical infrastructure – the first step for any super-brain
Why is Tesla currently dealing with electrical transformers?
Such an AI supercomputer requires hundreds of megawatts of electricity – an enormous demand!
Therefore, the initial and critical step is to build the electrical infrastructure in advance.
This happens even before the installation of GPU card racks, cooling, and networking.
The expected computational power of Cortex 2 is estimated to be in the enormous range of 50–120 EFLOPS.
This power will be used for critical tasks:
Policy learning: training Optimus to learn complex behavior and operational policies.
Massive simulations: running physical simulations on an enormous scale.
Central control: an advanced control model for managing a fleet of robots.
