Tension in high places?
If you haven't been updated, Elon Musk is going full throttle, sharply criticizing Trump's "big and beautiful bill."
"I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," Musk posted, calling the bill "a massive, scandalous, pork-filled congressional spending bill – a disgusting abomination."
Musk's harsh words indicate growing frustration with Trump's performance.
But while ordinary people are busy with gossip and sensationalism, we are wondering about the essence of business...
Do you know what bothers us about this whole story?
Anyone who knows Trump can attest that he is a business shark and a vengeful person – very vengeful.
Here's a small example to illustrate how Trump neither forgets nor truly forgives:
In 2019, Trump said that Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, is "a great manager because he calls me and not others."
With Trump's re-election, it seemed Cook was in a strong position to help Apple navigate the new administration...
But this year, 2025, the warm relations cooled.
Trump is more determined to quickly move manufacturing to the US, which made Apple a primary target.
According to The New York Times, sources said Cook's refusal to join the presidential delegation to the Middle East angered Trump.
Either way, during the visit, the president did not spare Cook from criticism.
Trump was accompanied on the trip by senior tech industry CEOs such as Sam Altman from OpenAI and Jensen Huang from Nvidia.
In his speech in Riyadh, Trump paused to praise Huang (who was present at the event), and then jabbed at Cook (who refused to attend):
"Look at Jensen Huang – Tim Cook isn't here, but he is."
Later, in Qatar, Trump said privately – and also on camera – that he has "a little problem with Tim Cook" and criticized Apple's investments in India: "I don't want you building in India." One doesn't need to be a behavioral analyst to understand – Trump doesn't forget – and doesn't forgive...
And that's why what bothers us about this whole affair is:
Will Trump now (as their relationship heats up) wait for Musk around the corner following the harsh criticism and disgusting descriptions Musk fired at him?
Or perhaps even in a business context?
We will continue to follow – and update.
