Tesla is preparing for the next stage in the evolution of its humanoid robot (human-like robot), Optimus.
The company announced that it is turning its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, into its main training base, the goal is to prepare the robot for real work on the production floor, a critical step towards making it a commercial product.
Until now, most of the development and data collection work has been carried out at the factory in Fremont, California, where Optimus prototypes are already performing relatively simple tasks, such as sorting and arranging parts.
The move to Austin, scheduled to begin this February, marks Tesla's readiness to raise the complexity of tasks the robot can perform in an active production environment.

One of the most interesting changes is how the robot "learns" to work; whereas in the past, training was based on human operators controlling the robot remotely using special motion suits, Tesla is now transitioning to an advanced video-based training method.
The process looks almost like a science fiction movie:
In the first stage, robot trainers wear heavy equipment including helmets with multiple cameras and data collection systems on their backs.
Then, the cameras record every movement of the human worker while performing the task.
Finally, these data are fed into Optimus's artificial intelligence system, which learns to accurately copy and imitate human movements.
For Musk, it's not just about a factory assistant; he defines Optimus as "the greatest product in history," with potential for widespread use ranging from daily household chores to operating complex data centers in space.
This is a paradigm shift: from a company that produces cars and energy solutions to a company that produces intelligent and autonomous labor.
