The US streaming market is maturing, but also getting more expensive...?

Recent months have brought another wave of price increases from leading services: HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, and now Apple TV+ and Paramount+ are also expected to raise prices by the beginning of next year.

The main reason for the wave of price increases is the dramatic rise in production costs and the acquisition of broadcasting rights, especially for popular sports content like NFL, NBA, and UFC.

Companies are passing these costs on to users, who find themselves paying close to $40 per month on average, sometimes for more than four different services.

From a business perspective, Netflix continues to report growing profitability thanks to an efficient subscription model and service expansion, while Disney and Warner Bros Discovery continue to record losses in the streaming sector. Peacock and Paramount+ are also struggling for financial balance.

Now, companies are exploring a shift to ad-supported models, service bundles, and external content production to curb costs and maintain profitability.

The industry may be entering a new phase: less rapid growth, more focus on efficiency and net income.

Consumers, for their part, are beginning to carefully choose which platforms to stay with, which could reshape the industry's balance of power in 2025.

The big question is how will these changes affect the companies?
