Meta enters our watchlist after very significant developments in the past week
Yesterday, Meta stock opened the trading day with sharp declines – after the company announced a massive project to build a data center in Canada the day before yesterday, and subsequently, news leaked that it plans to start producing its own AI chip as early as September.
This move is intended to support the company's ambitious goal: to double its computing capacity to about 14 gigawatts, indicating that Meta's capital expenditures are not only not expected to stop – but even to continue growing in the coming years.
But then something interesting happened:
The stock made a particularly sharp move – from minus 4% at the start of the day – to a gain of about 4% by the close of trading.
What was behind the turnaround?
Meta launched Muse Spark 1.1, the most advanced version of its artificial intelligence model – and for the first time in the company's history, Meta also introduced a payment track for developers.
This is the first time Meta is charging companies for access to its AI model via API – thereby opening a new revenue stream for itself.
One that can start recouping some of the enormous investments it is making in computing infrastructure.
Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that the price would be among the cheapest and most competitive in the market – with the aim of attracting as many developers and companies as possible and rapidly increasing Meta's market share in the field.
Additionally, Muse Spark 1.1 shows a significant leap in its capabilities, precisely at a time when the AI market is entering the era of intelligent agents.
Forecasts also support this direction:
Goldman Sachs recently estimated that by 2030, global token consumption could reach about 120 quadrillion tokens per month – a figure that illustrates how much demand for computing power and advanced models is expected to grow in the coming years.
In other words, Meta is no longer just investing tens of billions of dollars in AI infrastructure, but is also starting to build a revenue engine that can help finance these investments over time.
In our premium channel, we will deeply analyze Meta's strategy in the artificial intelligence race,
, examining whether its aggressive investments are starting to gain economic justification and what all this means for investors in the near future.
