Is Novo Nordisk preparing for a huge revolution?
$NVO Pay attention to the signs we are seeing on the ground.
Is something happening in the deep waters?
1️⃣ Aggressive recruitment: NVO Novo is recruiting dedicated sales and marketing teams for Alzheimer's treatment.
2️⃣ Strengthening management: Lucan recently joined as Chief Commercial Officer for Alzheimer's in Europe and Canada – is this a strategic step towards a large-scale launch?
It seems the company is preparing for a global launch.
Investing in commercial activities even before receiving trial data is a positive sign and indicates internal confidence (or at least, readiness for a rapid move if results allow it!).
3️⃣ In addition, Novo has recruited a new senior manager for Alzheimer's disease treatment.
The job description emphasizes "innovation with the potential to change the understanding and treatment of Alzheimer's disease."
This may be a sign that the EVOKE trial is progressing smoothly.
According to Denmark Forum, the person they recruited has extensive experience in neurology and oncology (including previous experience at Roche and GSK) and was responsible for launching new drugs.
But that's not all...
4️⃣ Novo published another new job posting related to Alzheimer's.
Senior Medical Manager - Alzheimer's APAC Medical and Marketing APAC
Translation of the job description in Germany
"Prepare for a new product launch".
But it's not that simple.
The hanging cloud: Clinical trial data for Evoke and Evoke+ for Alzheimer's treatment have not yet been published. It is important to remember that these two trials are considered high-risk.
If the data are positive, Novo could create a new 'hot wave' – with a huge growth engine, this time in the field of GLP-1-based Alzheimer's treatments!
The potential monopoly?
4 years of exclusivity!
If Novo is the first to receive approval for this indication, it could hold a de facto monopoly on the GLP-1-based Alzheimer's treatment market for 4 years! This is a huge window of opportunity, as $LLY (Eli Lilly) is expected to receive approval for the same indication only afterward.
Novo's gamble is indeed risky, but the win is entry into a huge and growing market with a first-mover advantage for years!
Will NVO succeed in replicating its obesity success in Alzheimer's as well?
