If this capability matures, it could change the economics of in-orbit infrastructure:

π’ Massive hardware for power systems and networks deployed in orbit all at once.
π’ Integration of Starlink and laser links for transferring vast amounts of data at high bandwidth across the orbital network and back to Earth.
π’ Rapid reusability that will enable continuous expansion of the infrastructure.
π’ Direct access to vast amounts of solar energy in orbit.
π’ Gradual construction of orbital infrastructure on a scale that was unimaginable with traditional launch systems.
And here lies the truly big story:
Serious-scale artificial intelligence in space cannot exist if sending every kilogram into space is a rare and expensive resource. π‘
Once the ability to lift tens and hundreds of tons into orbit becomes routine β the limitation changes. π‘
Instead of asking how little hardware we can send into space, we start asking how much infrastructure can be built there. π
