Amazon's delivery revolution?
Is Amazon eating UPS and FedEx for breakfast?
Note this:
While we all ordered another package for the weekend, Amazon made a quiet tactical move and took over one of the market's most critical arenas:
The shipping world!
The attached chart describes the market share of major US companies in package deliveries over the last decade.
And the picture is sharp and clear:
Amazon in 2014: 0%
Amazon in 2024: 28%
Almost a third of packages in the US no longer go through UPS, FedEx, or USPS, but directly through Amazon Logistics.
This is a dizzying increase at a pace that resembles a fast startup more than a commerce giant.
What happened to the rest?
USPS (US Post Office): a decrease from 43% to 31%, loss of leadership.
UPS: a dramatic drop from 35% to 21%.
FedEx too: continues to decline, from 22% to just 17%.
How did this happen?
Amazon stopped relying on others and built an independent, smart, and fast logistics infrastructure, with a fleet of trucks, planes, robotic warehouses, and an algorithm that decides who will deliver your package fastest.
The result:
Not only cost savings for Amazon, but also complete control over the customer experience.
And where is this going?
If this pace continues, by 2026 Amazon could overtake the US Post Office and become the number 1 leader in the shipping market.
When Amazon leads both the sale and the shipping, it simply controls the game.
Amazon: under observation!
